I have been dying to try this recipe and was finally able to this week. It did not disappoint!
Fire-Roasted Tomato and Italian Sausage Grinders (from Better Homes and Gardens)
--10 uncooked hot or sweet Italian sausage links
--2 cans fire-roasted diced tomatoes, undrained (14.5 ounces)
--1 can crushed tomatoes (28 ounces)
--1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
--6 cloves garlic, minced
--2 teaspoons dried basil
--1 teaspoon dried oregano
--1/2 teaspoon salt
--1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
--1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1. Place sausage in slow cooker.
2. Add undrained diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, vinegar, garlic, basil, oregano, salt, red pepper and black pepper.
3. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours.
I served mine on toasted hoagie rolls with provolone cheese and sauteed green pepper and onions.
